This is a hand-pollination done here at the RSBG utilizing one of our darkest purple forms of huanum combined with our hardiest form of griffithianum in an attempt to develop either a fragrant and large-flowered purple or a more intensely colored ‘Loderi’ type. These are seedlings grown from a hand-pollination done here at the RSBG utilizing our hardiest form of griffithianum crossed with the newly introduced and stunning species R. polytrichum. The latter species features massive and lightly fragrant white flowers with impressive large, glossy and hairy foliage.
