Vaccinium retusum SEH#25092

An epiphytic evergreen blueberry with small, smooth, elliptic blue-green leaves along the arching upright stems. In late spring, small racemes of pink, urn-shaped flowers are displayed. These are followed by small blueberries in late summer. This species has been observed in Sikkim growing from the crotches of large R. arboreum and R. grande trees. An outstanding dwarf evergreen shrub. Perfect on a stump or old log but quite happy in well-drained soil. May suffer some damage in very cold winters in the Puget Sound region but comes back from the base with great vigor.
