A stunning perennial Asian Mayapple with large and leathery foliage. Each boldly toothed leaf is attached to its stem in the middle (like an umbrella). The new growth emerges mottled with chocolate-brown and the deep pink flowers are borne singly on a short stalk from the top of each large leaf. These are followed by large red fruits. Looks best in shade with a rich moist soil for the largest and most robust foliage. A very special feature in the garden.
