Dwarf evergreen shrubs with very narrow leaves to two inches long. The young stems and undersides of the rugose leaves are covered with a coating of long red-brown hairs. Small rounded clusters of white flowers appear in early to mid-spring. An extremely hardy and attractive little shrub. Best in full sun with a moist soil but adaptable to normal rhododendron conditions. Extremely widespread throughout N Asia where it is quite variable in appearance. Occurs in a wide variety of habitats. These are grown from seed collected wild in the Kirov Region of Russia.
