This is a newly described and named species closely related to, and similar in appearance to the species R. sichotense and R. ledebourii. It differs from those two species in many minor botanical characteristics and by its larger overall size and larger and showy purple to pinkish-purple flowers. An early spring blooming large evergreen shrub for sun or light shade. This is endemic to the West Sayan region of southern Russia. Grown from seed collected in the wild and our first offering of this first introduction into cultivation. Great thanks to our good friend Konstantin Cherezov for finding, describing, introducing and sharing this beautiful new plant with us.
