One of the most spectacular of the deciduous azaleas. This subspecies has very large, brightly colored flowers that range in color from reddish to salmon-orange – variable in color but always quite striking and showy. The flowers appear in late spring and the fall foliage color can be spectacular. Easy and adaptable but best in sun. Rarely seen in gardens but one of the finest azaleas in our opinion. This offering has been grown from hand-pollinated seed produced here at the RSBG.
