A relatively dwarf and bushy species and one of the few non-“azaleas” that is deciduous. The bright blue-green and bristly foliage typically colors a shade of yellow before dropping in the autumn. The flattened flowers (late spring) are bright yellow. This is an unusual species not often seen in gardens. From wild seed collected in a previously unexplored region.
