A stunning ginger-lily with a seven-inch long terminal raceme of fragrant deep orange “orchid-like” flowers in late summer. A bold foliage plant that will reach three or more feet in height. This is one of the hardiest species; we have large colonies (they spread slowly by rhizomes) scattered among the big-leaved rhododendrons that have sailed through the past few severe winters with no damage. These are grown from seed collected from plants grown from a wild collection in the eastern Himalaya. Very uniform and beautiful deep orange flowers in dense inflorescences. A great companion to rhododendrons. Sun or light shade, moist soil.

A rare and unusual but beautiful perennial that is strangely uncommon in cultivation. In mid to late summer the two-foot-high branching inflorescences of white to pale pink flowers with reddish spots rises from the basal rosette of softly hairy, lyrate foliage. Easy in any soil with partial shade. Native to Chile and very lovely with rhododendrons.
Dwarf evergreen shrublets slowly spreading by underground runners to form a low groundcover. Closely related to the E North American native Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) which is a widely used ornamental. This Japanese native is similar, but the attractive glossy leaves have deeply impressed veins and the white urn-shaped flowers are followed by large glistening white berries instead of red. A beautiful plant with wintergreen flavored fruit.
This is an evergreen shrubby species with very glossy and deeply bullate foliage – a very beautiful foliage plant with typical flowers and fruit for this widespread genus. This may well be a new species as it was found in an area of Asia that has been little explored by botanists, and it does not key out to any known species from that region. The reddish new growth is another ornamental feature. NOTE: This still unknown taxon was formerly offered as Vaccinium yaoshanicum affinity.
A member of the Gesneriaceae (African Violet family) native to south-central China where it grows on mossy cliffs and rock faces. This is an evergreen herbaceous perennial with a basal rosette of thickly textured, smooth and glossy leaves from which arises a very short stem with several very large, inflated "snapdragon-like" flowers with pale purple tubes fading to white on the lobes with a yellow throat. The flowers are quite large for the size of the plant, a real stunner! A striking plant for a container, terrarium or shaded rockery. Should be relatively hardy.

An evergreen lily relative native to bogs, swamps and pocosins of the Blue Ridge Mountains and northern coastal plains in eastern North America. This is a close relative of Ypsilandra but with pink flowers (instead of white) that emerge later in the spring. Best in a moist soil with a bit of shade in the afternoon. Clump-forming like its Chinese relative (Ypsilandra). An interesting relict plant that is quite rare in the wild and which has no close relatives in North America.
Another great selection of this always ornamental genus. This woodland lily relative forms large basal rosettes of widely strap-shaped evergreen leaves. In early spring the central flower spike emerges and elongates to about 10 inches, topped off with a full head of bright blue-purple flowers – stunning. Best in light shade with some moisture in the dry summer months. A very choice Korean wildflower.
