Rhododendron campanulatum ssp. campanulatum RSBG

Large upright shrubs with shiny foliage and pinkish to lavender or (rarely) white flowers in mid-spring. The leaves have a dense and dark indumentum beneath. Grown from seed produced by a hand-pollination of two of our best clones here at the RSBG. Native to the Himalaya Mountains where this is a common, widespread and variable species.
