A famous old British hybrid with striking blood-red waxy flowers in early to mid-spring. Dark green elliptic leaves on a tree-forming plant with beautiful smooth and peeling bark. This F1 hybrid (thomsonii x barbatum) was the highlight of the entire day during a recent visit to the famous Rhododendron collection at Muncaster Castle in northern England. Not widely available.
This is a cross of two fantastic big leaf species with cream to yellow flowers. R. sinofalconeri is one of the hardiest and most easily grown of the big-leaf species and has a vigorous growth habit. R. macabeanum NAPE#052 is what we call the "alpine macabeanum" because it was found growing at an altitude 3000 ft. higher than its normal range. Please send us pictures when it flowers. These should be among the hardiest and most vigorous of all the big-leaves.
This is a stunning hybrid ('White Pearl' x 'Loderi') with very large conical and upright trusses of pure white flowers emerging from pink buds. There is a small ruby-red blotch highlighting the base of each flower. This forms a very large shrub or even small tree and is rarely offered for sale as it is difficult to propagate. Best in light shade. Our first offering of this rare Award of Merit hybrid.
An outstanding deciduous azalea with large trusses of beautiful flowers in mid to late spring. The flowers feature a white base with a strong pink blush and a bright yellow flare in the center - a really striking color combination. Fine fall foliage color in sun. Easily grown, this is our first offering of this stunning plant.
This is a hybrid ('Irian Jaya' x praetervisum) that features clusters of pendant and long tubular rose-purple flowers.
