R. kyawii is best considered a larger-growing and more glandular form of the more familiar R. facetum but with much larger leaves and flowers. The flowers (crimson to scarlet) do not appear until late summer. With leaves almost as large as those of one of the “big-leafs” this is a spectacular species for mild regions. These are grown from hand-pollinated seed produced by selfing CCHH#8078 which was the first recollection of this species (along the Yunnan/Myanmar frontier) in the modern era. A very rares species in cultivation. Our first offering in many years - the real thing!
This species features large trumpet-like and very fragrant white flowers in mid-spring and smooth peeling bark. Requires excellent drainage. A very beautiful flower, quite happy in a container. An excellent form with very large flowers which we received from the late Jim Gerdemann.

One of the rarest of the big-leaf species in cultivation, closely related to protistum (“giganteum”). The similar large leaves develop their thin indumentum at a much younger age than that species and the flowers also appear much sooner in its long life. The large flowers (early spring) range in color from rose to deep reddish-purple. These are grown from seed collected in a newly explored region of the eastern Himalaya and represent one of the first re-introductions of this rare species from the wild. A rare opportunity to grow this rare taxon from a wild source.
A great dwarf species with a low mounding habit, flattened bell-shaped flowers and small rounded glossy leaves with a fringe of hairs on their margins. The flowers (mid-spring) are primrose-yellow to cream-white, often with orange-yellow flecks. An epiphyte in its native haunts and so requires excellent drainage but quite happy in a container.
This is a dwarf evergreen species with funnel-shaped pale pink flowers in late winter. Easy in sun or shade with sufficient drainage and drought tolerant once established. This form with unusual rounded hairy leaves, a bit smaller than typical, perhaps a link between this species and the clodely related dendrocharis?
