A new introduction into cultivation. This species is an evergreen azalea native to a small area in southern Yunnan Province, China. It has attractive shiny and elliptic leaves that grow in pseudowhorls at the ends of the branches. The rose-purple flowers (early summer) are arranged in dense terminal clusters and have darker spots. An excellent new species with a dense and compact growth habit. Best in sun or light shade. These are grown from seed collected in the wild.
