Rhododendron 'Loderi Irene Stead' × 'Loderi Venus'

These are seedlings grown from a hand-pollination done here at the RSBG utilizing the two best pink forms of the ‘Loderi’ grex. ‘Irene Stead’ is a fine solid pink New Zealand selection that does not fade to white as most ‘Loderi’ forms tend to do, and ‘Venus’ is considered by many to be the best of the more commonly grown pink forms. One would imagine these plants will turn out to be pretty good pink forms of ‘Loderi’—please let us know how your plant survives and what the flowers look like when it blooms. The clone 'Irene Stead' is illustrated here.
